A signature proves who vouched for a digest. Supplying the content is how you learn the digest was a digest of this.
How to read the answer
- Recovery alone means nothing. Feed random bytes to secp256k1 and an address falls out. The check that counts is whether that address equals the one the receipt names.
- Pin a signer when you care who signed. A perfectly valid receipt signed by a stranger is still a receipt from a stranger.
- Supply the content to close the loop. Without it you learn who vouched for a digest, not what the digest was of.
- A receipt is a filing, not a judgement. It says this existed, in this shape, at this time. Whether the work behind it was any good is a question it cannot answer.
